A ghost movie that's a little too clever for its own good, Masato Harada's "Inugami" is all tease and no delivery. This first sally by the versatile helmer ("Kamikaze Taxi," "Bounce Ko Gals," "Spellbound") into the fantasy genre partly compensates with immaculate mise-en-scene but fails to provide a growing sense of dread or tension to replace the lack of out-and-out horror. After a moderate opening in Japan in late January, pic's offshore career looks to be minimal.
